Esparto Unified School District Families,

First, we would like to thank each family who completed our last survey. The information we gained is helping us determine our next steps in how we can best support the students and families of EUSD. 152 families responded which is 251 students representing about one third of the students in our school district.

The results of this survey are as follows:

20% Remain on distance learning for the current 20/21 school year,

36% Continue distance learning and return in person after the winter break starting on Tuesday, January 5 , 2021 as allowable based on county health criteria.

36% Continue distance learning and return in person part day for intervention or enrichment each week as soon as allowable based on county health criteria.

8% Other- mixed responses between start all day and hybrid return.

Yolo County has successfully maintained the level to be a part of Tier 2 or the Red Tier for COVID-19. This allows schools to open in a limited fashion. For the EUSD Reopening Plan this would be Phase 2. Starting the week of October 19, 2020 high school students will be attending in person only during the Targeted Instruction time. The middle school and elementary schools will begin to bring students back during Targeted Intervention over the next few weeks.

We will continue to monitor the Yolo County COVID-19 rates as we get closer to January. These rates determine the degree in which we are able to open up our schools. The following is a graphic of Yolo County’s Numbers over the past several weeks. The graph above shows the two metrics for the county. The blue line is the number of cases per 100,000 people and the black line demonstrates the positivity rate.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month

Every day thousands of young people experience bullying from their peers while at school, after school in their neighborhoods, and even when they are at home, through social media and texts. There are many ways to support bullying prevention as an individual or with friends and family, and within your school or community. Every October, individuals from across the nation—and around the world—unite with the powerful message that bullying should never be a part of childhood.
