Trustee Area 3 Vacancy, Provisional Appointment
Board Member Kelly Stotts submitted her resignation from her board position effective June 10, 2026. Her resignation created a vacancy on the Esparto Unified School District (EUSD) Board of Education.
At its June 29, 2026 special board meeting, the Board of Trustees discussed and voted unanimously to move forward with a provisional appointment process to fill the current vacancy on the Board.
On July 22, 2026, pursuant to Education Code section 5091(a), the Governing Board appointed Natasha Lopez as a provisional appointment.
On July 23, 2026, Notice of Provisional Appointment to the Board of Education of the Esparto Unified School District was posted on the district and school websites, posted in three (3) locations in Esparto and distributed to parents, staff and community via ParentSquare.
Pursuant to California Education Code sections 5091 and 5092, the provisional appointment is subject to a 30-day period during which registered voters of Trustee Area 3 may file a petition with the Yolo County Superintendent of Schools requesting that the vacancy be filled by a special election.
Election for the Full Term, Regular Election November 3, 2026
Individuals who are interested in officially seeking election to the vacant Board position may do so by obtaining the candidate filing documents from Yolo County Elections Office during the applicable filing period.
