Trustee Area 1 Vacancy, Provisional Appointment

Board Member Ygnacio Lua submitted his resignation from his board position effective July 22, 2026. His resignation created a vacancy on the Esparto Unified School District (EUSD) Board of Education.

At its July 22, 2026 regular board meeting, the Board of Trustees discussed and voted unanimously to move forward with a provisional appointment process to fill the current vacancy on the Board.

Interested individuals who would like to be considered for the provisional appointment may complete the application by clicking HERE. The deadline to submit an application for this vacancy is 12:00 p.m. on Friday August 14, 2026.

Per Education Code 5093, "a person appointed to fill a vacancy shall hold office only until the next regularly scheduled election for governing board members, whereupon an election shall be held to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired term." Therefore, if the vacancy is filled by appointment, the seat will be on the November 7, 2028 ballot.
